Job Searching Resources Available at the Library
Need a job now, going through a career transition or need to accelerate your career? Lincoln Public Library has new tools to help. Lincoln Public Library is pleased to offer our patrons free online access to three job-seeking resources. JobNow, Career Transitions, and Job and Career Accelerator are online resources, available with your library card at www.libraryatlincoln.org. The library has just received new books to assist you as well. Each offers unique and helpful resources for jobseekers.
The Library was able to receive funding for these timely resources. Without funding from NorthNet Library System and a Federal Library Services and Technology Grant administered by the California State Library the library would not be able to offer these timely resources.
With JobNow, patrons connect seven days a week from one-to-one to an educated and trained job coach for assistance in their job search process. Spanish speaking coaches are also available during the same hours.
The JobNow service offers personality assessments for patrons just beginning their job search as well as resume and cover letter templates and examples, live interview practice, online resources, local job search websites, and more.
In addition to helping beginning job seekers identify their desired career field, coaches provide constructive suggestions on resumes, cover letters, and live interview practice and feedback. Don’t have time for live resume or cover letter help? Simply submit your resume at any time of day through the JobNow Resume Lab and a job coach will send it back to you within 24 hours with detailed feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Career Transitions walks the patron through the job seeking process. Easy to use, it provides a practical, personalized, and guided experience that integrates all the tools needed in the job-search process. This service includes resume and job application wizards. It allows users to store references, action plans and more. It is simple to use the assessment engine to identify career interests and explore related careers.
Job & Career Accelerator, now available, provides personalized, step-by-step assistance for job seekers at all experience and education levels—from exploring and matching suitable occupations from over 1,000 detailed occupation profiles to finding available jobs in their area from a database of over 5 million up-to-date job postings.
Users can easily create professional resumes and cover letters, master interviewing and networking techniques, improve work related skills, and prepare for occupation related exams. In addition, it helps job seekers plan, tailor, and track multiple job searches at the same time while providing expert advice and tips every step.
